My craziest travel trap (short version): while traveling home from Aruba three days before Christmas the airport in Seattle closed due to a snow storm. The closest we could fly was San Francisco (14 hours to the south). We choose this option, grabbed the last rental car out of SF and drive home and arrived home Christmas Eve (two days late and $1500 poorer). We arrived with just enough time (and energy) to go get a tree and decorate it for St Nicks arrival. It was our own version of Planes Trains and Automobiles.
